Tyler Augenstein Winner of the Ruth Stanton Community
Grant for 2010
Tyler
Augenstein from Riverton, Utah, age 18, yet has
developed a great devotion for serving mankind.
When
Tyler was eleven years old his family opened their
hearts and home to two orphans from Ethiopia: a
brother who was five and a sister who was three. Tyler
described this as a “divine inspiration” and has been
a leader for humanitarian work ever since.
He has
been involved in helping in projects in Mexico;
building houses and performing community service at
Navajo and Hopi Reservations in Arizona. Tyler
believes in helping those needy in his local
community: widows, the handicapped and the homeless.
His neighbors describe him as having integrity,
flawless character, honest, and trustworthy.
Tyler
has been involved in student government and was an
Eagle Scout. He is a hard worker who raised funds
recently for a humanitarian trip back to his adopted
siblings’ birth village in Ethiopia. Tyler and his
family arranged for 22 of their friends to bring
school supplies and other much needed items and
distribute them. Musical instruments were brought in
and now a music program is in place for the students.
Currently Tyler is attending college at Brigham Young
University and is majoring in Molecular Biology. He
wants to either go into research or become a teacher
at the college level.
Tyler
is all about volunteering and making the world a
better place. He has earned the Bronze, Silver, and
Gold Presidential Service awards. We are proud that
Tyler Augenstein is our 2010 Ruth Stanton Community
Grant Winner.
